All It Took Was 18 Seconds...

It all started with The Summer I Turned Pretty. All it took was one random Instagram reel: 18 seconds of a cheerful crowd in a bar, somewhere in America. The pure joy that burst from my phone screen instantly hit my brain, providing more dopamine than I'd ever experienced while scrolling.

The anticipation, the tension, the cheering, the joy, shouting, screams, clapping, people hugging each other and everything in between. Pure form of happiness all in one place! And this was not a major sporting event, this was all for "my" show!

Pure Joy & The Instant Jealousy.

and then I felt jealous..
I felt I was missing out on something so pure, so beautiful and I instantly knew I wanted to experience this myself. I no longer wanted to watch my new favourite show on my own, I wanted to be with "my" people, my new discovered community where we all have one aim and one aim only - to have as much fun as possible.

So I started searching but to my utter surprise, no watch parties were planned in my city. My heart sank. I thought how unfair I will not get to experience this.

The urge for a shared communal experience was so strong I couldn't shake it off. That's when I decided the fans in my city deserve a good watch party!

The Best Pitch of My Life.

The idea came quickly - find a venue, call the manager, explain my crazy idea and advertise the event. Main vision - bring fans together, find space where we can be together to watch something that brings us so much joy.

All it took was one phone call! I must have sounded so enthusiastic and convincing that the idea of the watch party would work that they just could not say no :-) best pitch of my life: "Hi, I'm just this random person, please may I speak to the manager because I have this great idea..." you get the gist!

It Was Everything and More.

A week later the venue was full. The watch party was everything I ever imagined and more.The venue went the extra mile to make sure we had comfortable seats, good quality projector and sound, little snacks and a drink waiting on arrival and there was a surprise confetti when the episode finished! It was so magical and everyone was buzzing.

The 'AHA!' Moment: A Missing Piece.

After the absolute vibe and success of our TSITP watch party (seriously, huge thanks to the venue!), I couldn't stop thinking about it. Why do people love watch parties so much? What's the psychology behind getting off the sofa and sharing that experience in person? I even looked into the economic impact for venues, it's fascinating stuff!

This reflection led me right back to my own struggle to find a venue for that first TSITP event. And then I had that big, beautiful AHA moment!

Surely there must be a dedicated website for watch parties... but to my complete surprise, there wasn't anything that truly focused on this specific, buzzing trend.

I realised there was a massive gap, and I just couldn't let it go.

And That's How www.watchparties.co.uk Was Born.

Encouraged by my friends, I dove straight in and started developing the website. What started as a hobby is quickly developing into something much more serious.

I have huge ambitions to make this THE definitive platform for watch parties across the UK.

The trend is on the rise (just look at articles like the one I found from Glamour!), and venues are definitely catching on!
